Sylvia deShazo

Sylvia was born in London with the snow falling and the bombs dropping. Growing up, paint supplies were non- existent and her early paintings were made from charcoal she salvaged from the garden bonfire and paper torn out from the front pages of old antique books. There was a price to pay when her Mother and Grandmother found out the source of her paper supplies.

She uses both acrylic and water color mediums and really enjoys using both mediums with yupo paper. She loves to paint peaceful cottages and continues with a series of bottles and jars that afford so many colors, reflections and shapes.

Sylvia is an exhibiting member of Bon Air Artist Association, as well as a charter member of WNPG. She has shown her paintings at the General Assembly, Glen Allen Cultural Center and various venues as well as having been invited as guest artist at the UpTown Gallery. Her paintings are in residences in Washington D.C., London, Suffolk England, Adelaide and Melbourne Australia. Her paintings can be seen at Crossroads Art Center where she is a resident artist and also viewed on her website at http://tinyurl.com/WNPGdeShazo
